22 things to do for a successful job interview

Nothing more fun than a job interview, right?

The actual interview is only half the battle — showing up prepared, knocking their socks off, and following up like a pro are key for landing that dream job. Here’s your check-list for killing it.

Before:

Explore the company website.

Practice answering common questions with a friend.

Analyze Glassdoor reviews.

Put together a 90-day action plan.

Prep your response questions.

Articulate your unique story.

Look up your interviewers on LinkedIn (and see if you have a mutual connection!)

Review the job description and format your experience around it.

Compile your portfolio and other support documents.

Send a confirmation email.

Set your outfit out (and iron it!)

Get a good night’s sleep.

Eat something light.

Power Pose in the bathroom.

Ask for a glass of water before your interview.

During:

Speak slowly and deliberately.

Avoid these phrases.

Don’t get flustered when discussing money.

Smile and make eye contact.

After:

Send a handwritten thank you note.

Reach out to employees and ask questions about the work culture.

Breathe! You’ve got this.
